There are countless works and structures which testify to the past years but which are still present in the 42 towns of the Camonica Valley, recounting its various historical phases.
Besides being an element of remarkable attraction for tourists and mountain lovers, they mainly represent a memorial factor of the valley population who looks to the past in order to be projected into the future.
Several artistic and cultural attractions also take place which are worthy of being mentioned. First of all, the different museums situated all over the territory: ethnographic museums (Ossimo, Lozio, Cerveno, Vione) which, through tools and various objects, reproduce the way people lived in the past, the archaeological museums concerning the rock etchings, the museum of Temù's white war with the testimony of the battles fought in Adamello, the forge museum in Bienno showing the traditions concerning the iron working obtained from the handling of molten iron owing to hammer actioned by water which for years has represented a fundamental economical source for the entire Camonica Valley.
Furthermore, the visitor comes across extraordinarily beautiful churches inside which it is possible to admire marvellous frescoes, works by painters of a remarkable standard such as il Romanino in the churches of Santa Maria Annunciata in Bienno, Santa Maria Della Neve in Pisogne and Sant'Antonio in Breno.
The Pieve di San Siro e San Salvatore in Capo di Ponte of an unusual beauty, and the recently restructured church of San Giovanni Battista in Edolo, the retreat of Saints Peter and Paul, an imposing building situated in Bienno .
In Cividate Camuno the visitor can admire ancient Roman ruins contained both inside the recently restructured museum and out in the open in the theatre and amphitheatre, which were recently discovered and are a testimony of an ancient Roman capital in the Camonica Valley. There are the castles of Breno and Cimbergo, La Via Crucis (the Way Of The Cross) in Cerveno, an eighteenth-century wooden work of art representing Jesus Christ's Passion and death, the Annunciata convent in Piancogno. But there is still so much more to discover by visiting the various towns in the Camonica Valley which safeguard various works of art worthy of a visit.
